Curriculum & Classroom
A traditional, play-based curriculum that stimulates your child's natural love for learning through daily exposure to games, music and movement, creative expression, science and math activities. Lessons follow the CT Preschool Framework goals of Early Childhood Development and is fully licensed by the State of Connecticut.
Daily communication, monthly newsletters, and parent-teacher conferences are provided to keep you up to date on your child's progress, behavior, and socialization. We have a 1:6+/- ratio (teacher to student ratio). This extra attention helps support children even more in school to give enhanced focus on their individual needs.
Every class is led by a teaching team skilled in techniques to promote connection with students and to cultivate a thoughtfully prepared classroom setting. Children are encouraged to embrace independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. All certified in adult and child CPR, First Aid, EpiPen, and Medication Administration, our trustworthy team nurtures children, drawing from extensive experience gained through assisting hundreds of young learners.
Our classroom is decorated with artwork and filled with toys and learning materials. There are lots of opportunities for hands-on exploration and our space extends outdoors to our playground that offers space to climb, run, ride tricycles and scooters and explore nature.
Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s education. You can volunteer in the classroom, share special talents, participate in field trips, help with special events and attend parent-teacher conferences. We review our program yearly based on parental feedback.
Safe, secure and conveniently located within the United Church of Christ, Southbury, both the church building and self-contained classroom (including two child-sized bathrooms) are locked and secure during class time. The fenced playground is located right outside the classroom's back door.
Registration & Tuition
It helps to start the enrollment process early but your child should be 3 years old by December 31st and potty-trained before classes start.
We start accepting students 9 months before the school year starts. Current students, their siblings, and members of the United Church of Christ, Southbury register end of November/early December. In mid-January, we open enrollment to the public. Just request, fill out, and send in a registration form along with the appropriate fee. Mid-session inquires and registrations are always welcome.
While most families complete registration during the winter months, no entrance requirements and a rolling admissions policy means spots are filled on a first-come first-served basis. We suggest that families register as early as possible, as we begin to fill seats immediately.
Registration fees: A registration fee of $75 is to be paid at the time of registration. At the end of the enrollment period, if your child has not been accepted into The Preschool Center, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee. If your child has been accepted into The Preschool Center, and you withdraw for any reason, the registration fee will not be refunded.
Please note that while The Preschool Center offers various payment plans, tuition for all students is based on a yearly rate. Tuition amounts for students enrolling or withdrawing after the first day of classes will be prorated based on a day rate. The day rate for each program is based on the yearly tuition rate and the total number of scheduled days for the program. Payment plans for students enrolling after the initial registration period may be modified at the discretion of The Preschool Center.
We invite you to visit the classroom for a tour and to pick up a registration packet. Most of our forms will also be available to you online. If a class is already filled, we'll let you know and put your name on a waiting list.

What Parents Are Saying
“I have nothing but the best things to say about The Preschool Center! When looking for a preschool for my son, it was recommended to me by most. We were nervous about his transition, however, all the teachers proved to be phenomenal. They do an excellent job of mixing learning, while keeping the environment fun and welcoming for the children. His love for school has grown since starting here as a 3 yo, and now he cannot wait to start kindergarten this fall! I encourage you to check out The Preschool Center...you won’t be disappointed!”

“My oldest daughter attended the Preschool Center, and now my 3 year old goes there. The staff is attentive and caring…it’s easy to see they all love what they do! My daughter is excited to go to school to “play” with her friends and I am excited for the growth I have seen not only academically, but with social skills and life skills as well. We love the Preschool Center and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality program.”

“My son is just finishing his second year - he will be entering kindergarten in the fall and I have so much confidence that he is more than ready and very much prepared for elementary school.”
